I don’t know why you wouldn’t want a device with a touch screen, but it seems the demand is out there. The two screenshots below are the first signs of an upcoming release of Adobe’s Photoshop mobile:

Before anybody goes bonkers: this is NOT a photo editor, but rather a basic photo viewer/photo uploader that uses the Photoshop name for publicity reasons.
The program will initially support a few Q9 and BlackJack models along with Palm’s Treo 7xx series. It is said to drop “as a free download in September”…

One of the most expected Windows Mobile smartphones from Sony Ericsson is the Xperia X1. People have been waiting for it for quite a while now and it seems they are in for an even longer wait. Due to apparent OS failures the handset will be postponed to December 2008 or even January 2009.
Sony and Ericsson seem to have arrived at a turning point in their partnership. Their recent problems caused rumors all around the Internet. According to those rumors Sony wants out of the partnership if things aren’t going to improve for their joint mobile adventure. What does that mean? The Xperia X1 might be the last Windows Mobile smartphone to come from Sony Ericsson before the companies would part. We might even see this Xperia as an Ericsson Xperia X1 in the future.
No matter what Sony and Ericsson do, we can’t help to feel disappointed in regard to this delay. By the time the Xperia X1 will actually arrive, we will have other smartphones to play with.

I’m a couple of days late on this but I’ve been canoeing on a few new lakes and streams in Maine. So this morning I was trying to catch up on some feeds and it looks like there are some very happy Q9h users out there. The BGR let everyone know that although there has been an unofficial update floating around, the REAL THING is now here for your pleasure.
There are a moderate number of new features complemented by slightly improved device response and speed. The update itself is a pretty straightforward affair, though make sure you do a full back up before clicking on the “install” button.

Google Maps 2.2 for Windows Mobile Released:
Looks like Google has yet again updated the Google Maps application for Windows Mobile. Given this is one of my most used applications on the iPhone and it was definitely one of my most used on WinMo - I figured it may warrant letting you fine folks know as well.
According to Clinton and the information page this latest update adds transit functionality to the program which now allows you to check public transportation schedules in more than 50 cities around the world.
I did a bit of testing this morning with it here in Dallas and it works fantastically well.”All you have to do to access the Transit information is choose Transit under the Direction Menu.
Google Maps 2.2 is free-of-charge and you can grab it at http://m.google.com/maps from your WinMo powered device.
